information about Honda Accord:
The Honda Accord in my humble opinion is the story of a phenomenal Dream; from the development a little efficient Honda motorbike in a garage in Japan, to a very successful, functional, fun to drive popular vehicle called the Civic, and then the higher level intermediate Accord manufactured by Honda since 1976.
The name "Accord" was chosen to reflect Honda's desire to reflect "Accord and Harmony" between people, society and the automobile. It's Fuel Efficiency and low emissions have always been top priorities, as well as Reliability.
Still other features that have help maintain the Honda Accord's popular status are: it's High Quality, Style, Roominess and Power. The interior layout features of comfortable seating, logical control/gauge placements, a generous standard equipment list, as well as high-quality gear-shifting which all enhance the feelings of it's great Performance.
Honda Accord has been a leader in efficiency with it's early introduction of the CVCC head design that promoted cleaner, more efficient combustion and did not require a catalytic converter nor unleaded fuel to meet U.S. emission standards at that time.
Through the years the Honda Accord has continued to blossom, always adding the latest available technology along with continued increase in power and efficiencies. In the early 1980's it went from the traditional two speed automatic to a smoother three speed, and then a four speed automatic. It introduced leather seating, power window and door locks as well as A/C, which at that time were typically only reserved for luxury cars or expensive European makes such as Mercedes and BMW.
In 1982 Honda Accord, having difficulty meeting the demand from new buyers began production in the US. In the mid 1980's it was quick to introduce the efficiency of fuel injection, along with considerably more power, to match it's increase in size, weight and more luxuries. Alloy wheels, better aerodynamics, power moonroof and high-performance stereo/cassette sound system were also added in the late 1980's.
In 1990 the fourth-generation Honda Accord again grew in size, power and popularity. Styling in and out was very clean and purposeful, with a low beltline, large window area and slim roof pillars that minimized blind spots. The uncluttered and smooth appearance of the 1990's Accord gave an overall impression of quality and solidity. It continued to add more luxuries, upgraded stereo, more power, antilock brakes and airbags.
In 1994 Honda introduced "VTEC" (Variable valve Timing and lift, Electronic Control) which promoted more efficient available power at low rpm, as well as an impressive boost towards the top end of the rpm line. "Grade Logic" electronic control system for the automatic transmission was also available.
The first V6 engines were made available for the Honda Accord in 1995 as well as more refinements in style and chrome trim, gradually evolving into a bigger, sleeker, more interior room mid size car towards the end of the 1990's
By 2000 side airbags were standard on most models and the Tune-up intervals were stretched on some models to 100,000 miles, making an already low maintenance car even more so.
The 2001 Honda Accords were also very friendly towards the environment, with all models meeting California's Low Emission Vehicle (LEV) standards, and some models far surpassing that rating to a Super Ultra LEV (SULEV) rating.
By 2003 and onwards the Accord achieved again better performance with boosted engine power, improved suspension and reworked transmissions. More luxuries and refined styling were also added.
Currently in its seventh generation, the Accord with it's reputation of Dependability, Style, and Efficiency, is being sold in most automotive markets throughout the world. With it's rare distinguished qualities, and capable Marketing it has achieved remarkable success.
In the USA. alone, the Honda was the best-selling Japanese car for 15 years running from 1982 to 1997, It became the first Japanese-branded vehicle to be manufactured there. And the Honda Accord was the Best-Selling car in America for three years in a row, 1990-1992.
Over the years, Honda and the Accords have been keeping up with Progress, being a leader in Styling and always introducing New Desirable Features, implementing New Technologies and Efficiencies, making the Honda Accord a Leader in the Automobile industry throughout the world.
